2017, y'all. Has to be the fastest year I've experienced to date. It marks my first year shooting weddings solo under my own name, after three years as Honey and Salt with my partner, Erin. I have to be honest and say I started off last January wondering if I was going to want to keep it up considering the changes that came with going from having a partner to working alone. I stressed about booking new clients and rebranding and being the one in charge of all aspects of the business.
As I've spent the last couple of days pouring over thousands and thousands of images of all of the incredible people I got to meet this year, I've been reminded of how much I love capturing the moments that make up a wedding day. Its a privilege to get to celebrate with couples and their families and friends, it really is. With my camera in hand, I'm privy to moments no one else is present for: memories that are being made which will become some of the most meaningful in someone's life. I don't take that lightly, and I've realized that what means the most to me as a photographer is having the trust of my subjects to make those memories into something they can hold onto. This post contains a small handful of my favorites from each engagement session and wedding day from 2017. It was so hard to narrow down, and there are still many of these that I haven't fully blogged that I still plan to, so consider it a look-back as well as a preview.
To every single one of you who trusted me and welcomed me into your most profound moments, thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm looking forward to another year of happy tears, belly laughs, can't-won't-don't-stop dance parties and everything in between.
The year ended with my husband's younger brother proposing to his girlfriend the weekend before Christmas, which couldn't have been more romantic. Many blessings to you and yours in 2018!
